19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.
His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term coach his previous coach.
Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents the player's initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.
Victory also means the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different competitions.
"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in that event earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring outbursts on court had caused commentators to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.
The champion recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players swapped breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.
The opponent defended four early chances in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he clinched victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
